February Newsletter from Gov Ready

Being that time of the year, I should probably flavour our February comms to you with a love theme, tying into that day when flowers and chocolates transform into a virtual currency for 24 hours. But I’ll save you that pain as I expect you’ll be well and truly over the thousands of other businesses that are doing the same this week!

Instead, first a BIG shout-out to Liz Henderson, Karine Emanouel, and all the team at Avodah Global. Avodah is an amazing ethical business and impossible not to fall in love with. We at Gov Ready have been privileged to work with them to help diversify the business into Government revenue streams.

I just wanted to congratulate the Queensland Government on realising how special Avodah is and accepting them onto Queensland Government’s Uniforms and PPE panel arrangement. As an ethical and sustainable manufacturer, you have picked winner with Avodah.

Attention Sunshine Coast Businesses!

I’m a big fan of Sunshine Coast Council. Sure, I’m a bit biased as I spent my teenage years growing up on the Sunny Coast, but also because Sunshine Coast Council are one council which has a clear and driven purpose to support its growing business community, and they do so in many fantastic and meaningful ways.

One such initiative being driven by Council is having Gov Ready present some events and workshops to help businesses understand the opportunity open to them by supplying Council, helping them get ready for government supply, and among many other things, mapping out the right way to engage with Sunshine Coast Council buyers.

I can’t wait to get involved with these initiatives because I know there are many, many awesome Sunshine Coast businesses who are ready to partner and supply council, they just need a bit of guidance to get it right. FYI these events will be scheduled to run in April/May, so not too far away.

If you're a business on the Sunshine Coast and are interested in attending some of the sessions, email me. Once Council locks in the final dates and locations, we'll send you event details and registration information and you can go from there.

Send email direct to me at: thomas@govready.com.au

Until next time.

Cheers,
Tom Pollock

Plan Now for Queensland Small Business Month 2025

As we usher in 2025, it's the perfect time for small businesses to start preparing for Queensland Small Business Month (QSBM), held annually in May. QSBM is a statewide initiative that celebrates the vital contributions small businesses make to Queensland's economy and communities. It offers a platform for business owners to connect, learn, and grow through various events and activities. And as a bonus, it’s a great way to get your business in front of many government departments and decision-makers.

Why Participate in QSBM?

  • Networking Opportunities: Engage with fellow business owners, industry leaders, Government professionals, and potential clients. Building these relationships can lead to collaborations and new business opportunities.

  • Skill Development: Attend workshops, seminars, and webinars designed to enhance your business acumen. Topics often include marketing strategies, financial management, and digital innovation.

  • Community Engagement: Showcase your business to the local community, increasing visibility and fostering customer loyalty.

  • Access to Resources: Gain insights into government support programs, grants, and services tailored for small businesses.

Plan Ahead

While May might seem a while away, early preparation is key. By planning now, you can develop meaningful events or promotions without the last-minute rush. Consider hosting an open day, a customer appreciation event, or a workshop showcasing your expertise. Aligning these activities with QSBM can amplify your reach and impact. And happily, Queensland Government usually offers grants of up to $2k to help businesses with any costs related to events they host.

For more information and updates on QSBM 2025, visit the official Business Queensland website.
