“Hope for the best” doesn’t win contracts. Here’s what does

View in Browser

A few weeks ago I was on the Gold Coat chatting with the owner of a coffee van. She told me she’d tried (and failed) to get a council contract to supply coffee at public events. When I asked why she thought she missed out, her answer was honest:

“I’m not sure - I just filled out the form and hoped for the best.”

That stuck with me.

It reminded me how often good businesses miss out on government work not because they’re not capable - but because they haven’t learned how to speak the language of government buyers.

It’s never just about the price or the product. It’s about demonstrating value, trust, and alignment - on paper, online, and in person.

That's why I love what we’ve built with Gov Ready - helping businesses partner with the Government and guide them to winning contracts makes me smile…A LOT!

Cheers,
Tom Pollock

End of Financial Year = End of Budget

Many government departments and agencies are racing to spend unallocated funds before June 30. This often leads to:

  • Quick-turnaround tenders and quote requests

  • Unexpected opportunities for pre-qualified suppliers

  • More flexibility in low-value purchasing thresholds

Tip: Make sure your capability statement and registrations (QTenders, VendorPanel, Local Buy) are current and ready to go.

Digital Enablement Panel (Qld) is Coming Soon

The Queensland Government’s new Digital Enablement Panel (TMRICTSOA24040) is being finalised and will replace the expired Digital Capability Development Partnership agreement.

When it opens, businesses may only have 3-4 weeks to submit - so now’s the time to prepare:

  • Review your digital service offerings

  • Gather project examples, references, and insurance docs

  • Understand the likely scope: software, automation, ICT support, transformation services
