Smart moves, not big overhauls

Hi Subscriber First Name,

Welcome to our July newsletter! You know, everyone keeps saying “Happy new financial year,” but let’s be honest, most business owners I know are flat out trying to reset goals, chase work, and keep the wheels turning.

If you’re looking at the next 12 months and thinking “We’ve got to do this smarter,” you’re not alone. This month’s case study is a good reminder that it doesn’t always take a massive overhaul to get results. Sometimes, it’s one or two smart moves that put you on the government radar.

Until next time!

CASE STUDY: From Small Jobs to Bigger Wins in Far North QLD

A Cairns-based contractor had been picking up small government jobs here and there. Fixing stormwater issues, urgent maintenance, bits of subcontracted work.

They were grateful for the work, but ready for more.

When they came to us, they weren’t losing tenders. They weren’t even seeing them. No pipeline. No visibility. No real idea or understanding of how to scale up in the government space.

We worked with them to build a Government Engagement Plan and a strategy that matched their ambitions. That included identifying the right departments to target, making their value clearer, and finding government buyers they had never engaged with before.

Six months later, they had a hospital contract in hand and a calendar full of meetings they didn’t have to beg for.

If you want bigger wins, you need a bigger strategy. Good work will only take you so far – really critical is visibility, positioning, and timing.

We recently partnered with CarbonInvoice for a fast-paced webinar designed to take the overwhelm out of supplying to government. In just 20 minutes (plus Q&A), we covered what government buyers are really looking for, the most common mistakes SMEs make, and how to get “procurement ready.” That includes how sustainability now factors into the process.

Whether you're just starting out or looking to sharpen your edge, it's packed with practical takeaways.

From Startup to National Spotlight: Cardihab Featured on Nine News

One of our fantastic Gov Ready clients, Cardihab, was featured on Nine News recently for their groundbreaking work in virtual cardiac rehabilitation.

Their remote rehab program is helping patients recover at home, improving outcomes and reducing hospital readmissions. This is especially valuable in regional communities. It’s a great example of innovation meeting impact.

The segment highlighted how Cardihab is modernising care delivery in Queensland and beyond, showing what’s possible when health tech is aligned with real-world needs.

It’s also a timely reminder. When you are procurement ready and solving real problems, government buyers take notice.

You can catch the segment here.

Did You Know
Queensland Treasury forecasts that the Queensland Government will spend over $180 billion on goods and services in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. That’s a substantial investment and a huge opportunity for suppliers and small businesses to get involved.
